CONTRACT SPECIALIST

Applicants who meet the basic requirements described under education are fully qualified for the GS-05 level. GS-07:
In addition to meeting the education requirement, you must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples:
Performing work developing, preparing and presenting terms and conditions related to the awarding of contracts; drawing conclusions and making recommendations by analyzing facts and making comparisons, using knowledge of mathematics to compare prices on recurring acquisitions; administering the terms and conditions of straightforward contracts; using computer software to generate reports; draw conclusions and make recommendations by analyzing facts/conditions and making comparisons of price/discounts/delivery dates; read/interpret procurement regulations/technical material and translate into specific actions. -OR- Education:
Successful completion of at least 1 full academic year of graduate level education in one or a combination of the following fields:
accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management. - OR- Combination of Education and
Experience:
You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate graduate education. Graduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. -OR- Superior Academic Achievement (See OPM's General Policies, Application of Qualification Standards Section 4.f.) S.A.A. must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. GS-09:
In addition to meeting the education requirement, you must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples:
performing assignments involving the use of advertising and negotiation methods; and analyzing contract provisions and recommending termination or modification of purchase orders/contracts. -OR- Education:
Successful completion of at least 2 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree with coursework in one or a combination of the following fields:
accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management; or LL.B, or J.D. - OR- Combination of Education and
Experience:
You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate graduate education. Graduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
