Air Traffic Control Specialist (Staff Support Specialist)

Serves as a Staff Support Specialist at the Fairbanks Flight Service Station. Responsible for day to day and long term programs, such as orders, goals, quality control and training, plans and procedures. Continuously reviews work processes to assure that results meet the agency's mission and customer's needs. Reports to the Air Traffic Manager, who provides administrative direction for assignments in terms of overall objectives of the organization. The incumbent is responsible for planning, designing and completing work assignments independently,. Work is evaluated in terms of results achieved and effectiveness in assigned program areas. To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-G, FG/GS 10/11. Specialized experience is experience in an air traffic facility that demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the level of work of the advertised position. Examples of specialized experience may include, but are not limited to providing information to pilots on such matters as weather, air routes, navigational aids and airport conditions before and during flight which required (1) judgment to select only essential and pertinent information from a great mass of data; (2) skill to present essential information to pilots clearly, concisely and quickly before or during flight; and (3) ability to act decisively in emergency situations.For candidates with prior FAA AFSS/FSS experience, you must complete and submit the FAA Form 3330-43-1, Rating of Air Traffic Experience. The form MUST include from and to dates of experience, position title, series and grade/pay band level of all positions held. NOTE:
The FAA Form 3330-43-1 can be unrated and only page 1 is required.For candidates with no prior FAA AFSS/FSS experience, but who possess a Flight Service Station facility rating issued by an FAA-authorized issuer, a copy of a document showing this facility rating is required in order for a qualification determination to be made.In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following has been determined to be a selective factor for this position. This means possession of this criterion is part of the minimum qualifications and is essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
