TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS- 06 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS- 07 level and one year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-08 level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted). We must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To be creditable, this experience must have been for 1 year and equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. (If the position was seasonal, your resume must show periods worked. You may qualify at the GS-07 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualification requirements:
Have at least 1 year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of at least the GS-06 grade level in the federal service. Examples of qualifying specialized experience are:
1) processing payroll and other financial documents; 2) preparing correspondence; 3) maintaining records and databases, and 4) making travel arrangements for others. You may qualify at the GS-08 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualification requirements:
Have at least 1 year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal service. Examples of qualifying specialized experience are:
1) performing a broad range of administrative duties such as payroll, travel, correspondence, data entry; 2) reviewing and auditing financial documents; 3) arranging meetings; and 4) tracking budget expenditures. Selective Placement Factors:
This position requires a special qualification that has been determined to be essential to perform the duties and will be used as a screen out element. Those who do not provide evidence they possess the following selective factor(s) will be rated not qualified. A Qualified Typist is required for this position. Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. NOTE:

The work is mostly sedentary. There is occasional carrying of light objects such as files, books and paperwork. There are no special requirements required. Working Conditions:
The work is performed in an office setting. The work environment involves everyday risks which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, or commercial vehicles. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and air conditioned.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
