2K a year 527885 Fairbanks, Alaska, United States On Campus Staff Full-time Grade 77 UAF Intercollegiate Athletics The Department of Athletics and Sports Information Department are seeking a well-organized, friendly, and motivated Sports Information Assistant to work alongside the head of the Sports Information Department.
This position will work with athletic teams as assigned and report to the Sports Information Director and Director of Athletics.
This position will work 10 months per year, full-time.
This position will serve as an institutional representative to the media for all athletic activities.
They will plan, organize and coordinate media relations activities; write and distribute game-specific and original written pieces, report to television, newspaper and radio stations, assist in the creation of graphics, produce and stream home events and help improve the overall public view of the Alaska Nanooks Department of Athletics.
The Department of Athletics for the Alaska Nanooks is small; with that, the position may wear a few different hats from day-to-day.
They will work alongside the Asst.
AD for Marketing, Promotions and Fan Engagement to better the overall fan experience at home events, they will work and coordinate sponsorship fulfillment with the Associate AD for External Relations, they will work with the Asst.
AD for Operations, Facilities and Ticketing to prepare venues for games and events, alongside possible ticket promotions, etc.
and finally, they will work alongside the Asst.
AD for Academic Services to promote classroom successes.
All of this will pair with working alongside their assigned sports and coaches.
To thrive in the role of Assistant Sports Information Director, the chosen candidate needs to be committed to the craft of sports information and athletics communication as a whole.
Understanding and prioritizing what needs need to be met will take the candidate far and help bring the Alaska Nanooks into the spotlight.
The ability to handle high-stress hours and moments will be key as there will be many events in a single-day; the assistant will need to be able to fill-in as needed, whether handling games and events that are on the road or stepping into a position at a home event.
The chosen candidate will also be expected to handle crisis management moments with stream equipment and other possible equipment mishaps.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelors' Degree in Communications, Sports Management, Athletic Administration, Business, Marketing, or related field required.
6 months - 2 years of related experience Position Details:
This is a full-time, 10-month, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.

New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
