This critical role involves overseeing operations of the center, staff training, and program development, while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for guests seeking shelter and support during the challenging winter months.
Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight:
Manage and supervise the nightly operations of the Warming Center.
Ensure a smooth check-in process for guests and maintain a secure and orderly environment.
Coordinate with staff to implement and enforce Warming Center policies and procedures.
Staff Management:
Recruit, train, and supervise a team of dedicated overnight peer support staff and/or volunteers.
Conduct regular staff meetings to address concerns, provide updates, and foster a positive team environment.
Collaborate with the Fairbanks HopeLink board to ensure adequate staffing levels and coverage.
Guest Services:
Foster a welcoming and respectful atmosphere for Fairbanks HopeLink guests.
Address guest needs and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
Coordinate with local service providers to connect guests with additional resources and support when possible.
Safety and Emergency Response:
Develop and implement emergency response protocols in collaboration with local authorities.
Conduct regular safety drills and training for staff and volunteers.
Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
Community Engagement:
Cultivate positive relationships with community partners, local agencies, and volunteers.
Represent Fairbanks HopeLink Warming Center at community events and engage in outreach efforts to raise awareness.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Previous experience in social services, homelessness outreach, or shelter management is preferred.
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Compassionate and non-judgmental approach to working with individuals experiencing homelessness.
