Summary:
The Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing, Sponsorships, & Fan Engagement reports to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for External Operations.
The Assistant Director of Marketing, Sponsorships, & Fan Engagement will assist with creating sponsorship packages and develop partnerships with corporations and organizations.
This includes identifying potential sponsors, soliciting sponsorships, and the execution of sponsorship agreements.
This position is responsible for the execution of marketing efforts and promotions on game day.
The position is also responsible for creating content (written, video, and graphic) for UAF Athletics.
This person will work with the Sports Information Director to develop new strategies for digital and social communication.
This position will assist in the creation of new media marketing, digital media advertising, fundraising strategies, promotions and sponsorship development and fulfillment for UAF Athletics.
In addition, this position will assist with coordination and assign workers for game day promotional operations.
Duties:
Revenue Generation:
Work with AD to assist and help oversee the athletic departments corporate sponsorship, marketing, and promotion efforts in conjunction with the Sr.
Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs, University Development and Alumni Offices, Sports Information and Communications Office.
Assist with increasing revenue generation opportunities for UAF Athletic Department from season ticket sales, group sales and general admission ticket sales.
Assist with developing and implement a comprehensive Corporate Sponsorship strategic plan, metrics, and goals regarding corporate sponsorships, corporate-foundation giving.
Assist with management of the external business opportunities, e.
g.
title sponsors for events/tournaments, and corporate partnerships for the department.
Help develop, coordinate and execute the acquisition of all corporate sponsorships, but not limited to, in-business appointments, presentations, negotiations and agreement fulfillments.
Oversee and manage trade/gift-in-kind accounts and the courtesy vehicle program.
Implement effective marketing of promotions and events via all communication channels and media.
Manage internal business opportunities by coordinating on-campus activation methods to promote upcoming games and increase exposure.
Work closely with on-campus departments (Student Activities, etc.
) to grow the athletics brand and increase school spirit.
Work in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and the department through identifying, cultivating and soliciting corporate sponsorships.
Maximize revenue potential, and promote and enhance the image of the Athletic department through corporate sponsorships.
Develop and sell corporate sponsorship packages for UAF Athletics.
Work with Sr.
AAD to complete an annual Corporate Sponsorship program report annually and University Athletics Department Annual Report in collaboration with the Sports Information and Communications Office.
Coordinate and assist with executing the fulfillment of all sponsorship contracts, including arena and stadium signage, public address announcements, in-game promotions, logo recognition and all other components incorporated into a game presentation.
Coordinate charitable requests and participate in public speaking and public relations appearances on behalf of the Director of Athletics, Sports Information and Communications and the University Development and Alumni Offices.
Participate in community service activities through local and/or statewide organizations.
Represent the athletic department at selected conference meetings and national conferences.
Other duties as assigned.
Event & Game Management:
Manage event presentation, game experience and sponsorship activation for UAF Athletics, but not limited to, writing scripts and timelines, directing game, creating and managing video board content, designing elements as needed, managing game day staff, and building out a complete fan experience in-venue.
Manage all facets of ticket sales to UAF athletic events, including season ticket sales, renewals, and group sales.
Manage season ticket renewals, group sales, ticket promotions, and community events to promote athletics events.
Responsible for account management and stewardship for all donor tickets, season ticket, and group sales accounts.
Plan, direct, and execute game production efforts for all 10 UAF sports, including the creation of game scripts, music promotions, video, cheer/mascot, and on-court presentations; while overseeing external fan engagement student interns.
Assist with administering and coordinating donor experiences to support athletic competitions and engagement opportunities for the Director of Athletics and the coaching staff.
Coordinate charitable requests and participate in public speaking and public relations appearances as needed on behalf of the Director of Athletics and/or the department.
Participate in community service activities through local and/or statewide organizations.
Represent the athletic department at selected conference meetings and national conferences.
Other duties as assigned.
Assist with managing Graduate Assistant and student workers for Athletics including scheduling of grassroots initiatives for the marketing department.
Coordinate in-game promotions and execute theme game nights.
Prepare pregame, in-game, and post-game video board elements for all home hockey games.
Day-to-day management of athletics e-blasts, including newsletters, ticket promotions, week-of emails, etc.
Demonstrate the ability, knowledge, and adherence to applicable University, NCAA, and Conference rules and regulations.
Marketing of Games:
Work with the Sports Information Director to promote and market home events.
Assist with social media platforms to educate fans of home contests and promotions that may be occurring.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Must have knowledge of and adhere to NCAA and GNAC rules and regulations.
Expert knowledge of sports and athletic program operations, marketing, development, advertising principles, and accounting procedures to include budget and fiscal operations.
Advanced knowledge and demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion and inclusive excellence in Intercollegiate Athletics and a University setting.
Skills in program and project management.
Strong interpersonal and planning skills as well as strong supervisory, organizational, and analytical skills.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to create and implement effective long range and strategic revenue development and event management plans.
Excellent proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs and familiarity with Photoshop and Adobe InDesign.
Preferred Experience & Education:
Minimum 4 years' experience in related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Development, fundraising, athletic marketing, event management experience and/or athletic experience in management.
Master's degree preferred.
Required Experience & Education:
Bachelor's degree in related field and four years experience, OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Master's degree preferred.
Salary Information:
This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule , Grade 79, based on education and experience.
