Summary:
UAF College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) is looking for a Student Office Assistant.
This position offers flexible part-time hours between Monday-Friday from 8:
00 am to 5:
00 pm making it easy to accommodate course schedules.
The ideal candidate will be friendly, professional and possess a high level of organizational skills.
CFOS has a large population of faculty, staff, researchers and students in locations across Alaska.
Duties:
100 General Office Support Greet visitors, answer their questions, direct them to the right offices.
Answer multiple line telephone and transfer calls or take messages as needed.
Assist with questions regarding printing, scanning, faxing, paper and toner replacement for office printer.
Sort incoming mail into appropriate mailboxes, forward mail as needed.
Receive/log packages delivered and notifying recipients by email.
Assist with the organization of office supplies, refill supplies in the copy/mailbox area.
Purchasing Maintain custodial ProCard checkout system.
Ensure card checkout forms are completed at the time of card checkout and receipts at the time of card check-in.
Assist to reconcile ProCards by ensuring each purchase has a back-up receipt, analyze the correctness of transactions posted, route statements for signatures, compile, log & file completed statements.
Credit Card Payments Process credit card transactions using department credit card machine.
Log payment details, description, amount, fund/org to charge and date received.
Submit deposit slips with settlement report to Bursar's office and send copy of credit card receipt to payees as requested.
Merchandise Store CFOS has an online swag merchandise store.
Help monitor purchases, distribute items purchased locally and prepare items to be mailed as needed.
Department Vehicle Coordination Assist with CFOS vehicle log and checkout system.
Willing to learn new skills and assist with special projects.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Demonstrated use/knowledge of office equipment, including copying and scanning.
Word processing skills (MS Office Suite of software and Google Suite).
Professionally greet visitors, answer telephone, route calls, and provide basic information.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Possess a high level of organizational skills, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a busy office environment and complete tasks.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred
Experience:
Experience working in an office setting with the public or in customer service preferred.
Required Education or Training:
Must be an enrolled UA student in at least 6 credit hours and have a GPA of 2.
0 or greater to be eligible for student employment.
Salary Information:
This position offers a starting student salary of $14 per hour.
Additional hours available during the summer months.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
