Duties:
As our Grant Manager, you will join a caring and fun team at the Signers' Business Office (SBO) in providing fiscal and grant award management for the units that SBO serves.
Every day we'll rely on you to manage a grant portfolio by determining projections for expenditures and resolve issues by researching what spending is allowed and not allowed for each grant.
You will use existing reports (Excel & TOAD) to keep track of these grants and when they will expire and provide this information to our Principal Investigators, the Office of Grant and Contract Administration, necessary university financial systems, and various funding agencies.
Primary funding agencies include USDA (capacity awards), State of Alaska, Dept.
of Education, Native Corporations, and the National Science Foundation.
The ideal candidate will be friendly, professional and possess a basic knowledge of general accounting principles.
Additionally, you will be a liaison for funding agencies, departmental researchers, and other campus departments on budget, grant management, fiscal, financial, and accounting matters on assigned restricted grants.
To thrive in this role, you must be able to respond in a timely manner to a diverse group of people, who often have quite interesting research they are conducting that not only affects UAF, but can ultimately help the people of Alaska.
A strong attention to detail as well as analytical skills is a must as this position prepares and submits budget revisions, journal vouchers, and labor redistributions.
Proficiency in pulling data from existing reports, and having the ability to read and decipher award documents are necessary skills the successful applicant must be capable of completing.
While grant experience is helpful to already have, we will train the right candidate.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Some college coursework in accounting and a proven ability to maintain departmental budgetary and fiscal standards.
An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.
Advanced computer literacy, including the ability to use word-processing, spreadsheet, database, and project software.

New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until a successful candidate is identified.
