Programs may range from one to three-hours on-site field trips, one-hour classroom presentations, and one-week outdoor expeditions.
Most programs are designed using professional curricular templates and are linked to national standards.
Programs address a variety of natural and cultural resources in the disciplines of natural science, cultural science, and history.
Many programs are developed and implemented in close partnership with park partners such as non-profits and schools.
All programs and materials are designed to support the physical and emotional safety and wellbeing of all students, as well as fun and learning.
Outdoor expedition instruction requires providing instruction as well as maintaining the physical and behavioral safety for all group members while dealing with Alaskan weather, terrain, and wildlife.
Designs, develops, produces writing and visuals for, and manages self-serve educational programs and products (including Education Letters, social media, etc.
) using high-quality media.
Plans and prioritizes work; determines the need for and provides training.
Communicates team objectives and connects work assignments and employee engagement to mission.
Maintains a safe workplace.
Develops and maintains formal and informal communication networks and partnerships to facilitate productive and cooperative activities.
Collaborates with and maintains relationships with park partners and local schools.
Works with other agencies and organizations in planning and developing education programs, camps, and teacher and community workshops.
Works with colleges, universities, and other educational organizations to obtain academic credit for workshops.
Oversees the organization and storage of the Education Team's assets, both physical and electronic, as well as statistics for the Education Team.

Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).
This experience includes activities such as:
developing and serving as lead instructor for youth programs in classroom and/or backcountry settings; designing and producing self-serve educational products; working in close partnership with organization partners such as non-profits and schools.
